So most of us are confined to our homes due to the pandemic and everything came to standstill. We are not used to this at all and our routines have been broken. Most of the establishments are closed and all of a sudden we have free time on our hands which we never had before. Life seems slow, the neighbourhood is quiet. Nothing much on television to watch and we are bored due to the pause in the hustle and bustle.

If we don’t change our routine in these challenging times, it can lead to fear and fear leads to anxiety. Anxiety leads to depression and depression can be very dangerous. I don't know about you, but I've been reading, walking and doing new things more this week than I have in my entire life.

Keep in mind you are not the only one who is feeling the effect of this. Most of us are in the same boat. This, like so many other challenges humankind faced in the past, will come to an end and our lives will get back to normal. Try not to worry too much about jobs, finances etc. Your mental and physical well being should be your topmost priority.

Try these few tips to stay positive:
Watch less news and spend less time on Social Media.
In this informative era that’s the hardest thing to do. Watch the news once or twice a day; watching the news over and over can make you anxious and paranoid. The information we get on social media is not always true. Before believing and forwarding it make sure it’s true. You should spread humour, not rumours.

Read a Book
Check your book collection, surprisingly you will find a book that you might have read a long time ago. Grab that and re-read it. You will soon realize what you were missing. Reading is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge and lessons to read while keeping our minds active. Reading books can help us learn, understand and makes us smarter. Not to mention the knowledge, vocabulary expansion and thinking skills we develop, so read a good book today!

Get Creative
Try a new thing today or that you have not done for a long time. Try a new cooking recipe; play an instrument or read. Write something or correspond with friends. Do home chores. Get all the stuff done at home that you've been putting off. Plan a special dinner menu - for tonight - using whatever you've got in the freezer. You’ll all feel less lonely.

Stay Active
The gyms are closed but this is not an excuse for being lazy. Dust off the treadmill or the bike sitting in the corner. Pull up lots of exercises on YouTube you can do at home. Go for a walk and get the opportunity to get some fresh air. It will help you to feel connected to the community. Social distancing does not mean being isolated. Play games with your family.

Try the old games which were forgotten with the rise of technology. Dig out the board games. Tell stories, solve puzzles. Watch a movie together. Now you have time on your hands to take an afternoon Nap.

These anxious times we are going through will soon be over. The world will change for sure. We will be doing a lot of things differently, after all, we will be back to normal so stay calm and grounded. Learn a lesson from this. Try to eat healthy. Safety and family over everything by 1000!

We should all start respecting nature as nature has its way of fixing things ... no matter how scientifically and technologically advanced homo sapiens get and how primitive and obsolete ways of natures look.
